Why does my DVR ask me to extend record time?
Well, you've got me there. I don't know why your DVR would ask you to extend record time. Extending record time is usually an option in the Series Manager settings or individual recordings menu. It is used to extend the recording length of a show beyond the time slot in which the show was originally scheduled to air. In other words, add extra time onto the end of the recording, rather than recording the next time slot to catch the end of a show that ran overtime.
I'm afraid you'll have to give more information about when this occurs if this doesn't answer your question.
I found a new answer. If you accidentally or intentionally hit the REC button while viewing a show that is currently recording, you will see the following prompt:
RECORDING ALERT I Stop Recording
Select One I Extend End Time (Default Selection)
Please select an option. I Exit
