Just got Fios (woo hoo!) - have the Tivo Series 2 set-up correctly. Understand the inability to record and watch TV at the same time (I think). However, does the Fios TV have to be "on" to record correctly? We've been getting the black Fios menu screen when tivo recording if the TV off. Thanks for the support.

Someone will correct me if I'm wrong as I have not used the Tivo 2 on the Verizon service. I use the Tivo 3 with cable cards.
But it is my understanding that you have to have it hooked up in this way. Connection from Verizon to a Verizon STB and then the tivo between the Verizon STB and the TV. In this setup, then the answer would be yes. The Verizon STB would need to be on to get the PIC and to be able to record with the Tivo.

you would have to manually turn off your tv for it to work. the box needs to be on for series 2 to work.
Also if you use serial cables I think they turn the boxes on but not too sure about it.
