New FiOS Service Without STB?
Not applicable

Hello,

Does anyone know if it's possible to start a new FiOS service plan without renting a service box? I have my own equipment in the house and would just want to rent the $4.99 CableCard so I can access the service on said equipment. When I called the sales number, the rep told me that they weren't able to set up a new plan without adding a cable box. I know that from a technical perspective you don't need to have the equipment to get the signal (as long as you have the CableCard), but I'm not sure how to approach the ordering process to get around the sales push to rent the box.

Thanks!

the above link may assist you. Don’t let Verizon tell you that you need their set top boxes.

you may have to sign up at dsl reports but you can post anonymously for a time but can read for free. It’s free to join however.
