Quantum FIOS Remotes

Hi-

I will be having Quantum FIOS installed in 4 locations in my home.  In three of those locations, sound will be coming from a source other than the TV: 1.) an ONKYO AVR; 2.) a sonos playbar and 3.) a Bose Cinemate.

What are my options for controlling volume for these devices?  Can I use the FIOS remote?  Will the RC 1445302 work with the new Quantum FIOS boxes?

Thanks!

The Quantum remotes only control the DVR and one more device -- usually a TV.  So if your TV volume comes from somewhere else, you're out of luck.  I use a Harmony One remote which replaces all of the remote functions on the Quantum remote and controls everything else too.

Sometime HDMI CEC will control some devices.  For example controls the volume of my Denon receiver.

The model # you posted is the 4 device remote, not the 2 which jfalk is talking about. The 4 device remote will control receivers, but only if the remote has the codes for them. If it's a newer receiver the remote may not have the proper codes for it as the remotes have very old codes built into them. The remotes do work with the quantum boxes.

You can try to program it to use the receivers with the aux button. If it won't as suggested a Logitech Harmony remote (there are several models) and will control everything and anything you buy and use in the future. You can get them pretty cheap on ebay. I got my 650 new for $40.

If you need to look for codes or anything for the 4 button fios remote you can find the info here. http://www.verizon.com/Support/Residential/tv/fiostv/remote+controls/setup/setup.htm
