Verizon changed the WAN IP setting on the router from PPP to DHCP, disconnecting us. Tried to reconnect via PPP, but that's not working either. I spoke to tech support last night; this must be what they meant when they said it was going to be fixed today. They certainly are escalating things!

Hmm, this shouldn't happen in DSL areas. It's possible your service experienced an outage with PPPoE, and the modem tried to "auto-detect" a fix.
PPPoE should be open access though. Any combination of usernames and passwords should work. Failing that, your My Verizon credentials should work. Are your neighbors having issues?
