Yes, you can keep your current number. It may take some extra time to get both parties to agree to a date. Since you will be switching to Verizon, they will do all the leg work for you. The difficult part is your old company releasing your number. They usually like to be a pain in the a*s to release a number.

When you goto the Verizon WWW Site to Order FIOS they should be able to tell you if yu can port your current number to Verizon.
I have seen post where the VOIP Provider has issued you a number that can not be used at your Verizon Central Office (CO).
Your results may also depend upon who origally issued you the number (Verizon or the VOPI Provider).
I had ported my number from Verizon years ago to Vonage and was able to port it back when I switched to FIOS.
