Use Verizon phone service ID as Triple Play ID

I already have a Verizon account with standard phone service.  Why can I not use that for my additional services with Verizon?

When you do your account activation at http://activatemyfios.verizon.net it usually will recognize your old ID and recommend that you merge them into one.   Usually it will grab the old ID.

Have you tried that?
