Verizon $300 Scam

Signed up online early July for FIOS service for our home. Verizon told me that we would receive a $300 Visa Gift Card with a 24mo agreement after 90 days. Completely forgot about that and since we never received anything went to check on it on Friday. First I was unable to get a hold of anyone, online chat unavailable, then good luck trying to find a support phone #. Finally got on the phone with a rep and she tells me that there is no such a thing as $300 gift card on my account. I couldn't believe that she was lying to my face!! I was FUMING!! She tells me to call back the main 800 # and go through the prompts and there is something about the gift card and I could complain. Of course I called back, couldn't get through to anyone, no prompt for the gift card etc. So I go online and start chatting with another agent and he/she tells me that he's going to forward my chat to another agent who deals with this. Of course the other agent wasn't available at that time and they basically gave me the run around to get me off the chat.

Go back on chat a few minutes ago to talk to another agent about this, and sure thing he confirms the same thing: no gift card was promised to you and do you have the name of the agent you spoke with in July:

VERIZON: YES I SPEND MY TIME CHATTING WITH YOUR AGENTS AND WRITING DOWN THEIR NAMES BECAUSE I FIGURE YOU ARE GOING TO LIE TO ME AND SCREW ME. REALLY???

Basically it's clear and simple after doing a search for his on the Internet:

This is an ongoing SCAM. Verizon and LYING and CHEATING to get people to sign up then gives them THE SHAFT!!!

Of course try to cancel your service and they will charge you $250 to disconnect the service.

This is worst than bank robbery, the greed from these stupid companies like Verizon has to be stopped. I will go to BBB now and report this scam, but I highly doubt anything will happen out of it. Everyone in the US should boycott their service and hope that companies like Verizon go under and learn their lesson (I know it's called Utopia).

We spend $160/mo for our FIOS home service and another $160/mo with our business which equates to $3,840 a year spent with Verizon. How do they thank us for the business? BY GIVING US THE SHAFT!!!!!

I will gladly take our business elsewhere to their competitor.

PEOPLE DO NOT SIGN UP WITH VERIZON!!!

Wish I would have read these posts PRIOR to re-signing with Verizon.  I was offered a $300 gift card in November 2013  to re-sign with  2 year contract  The gift card would be mailed in 90 days.  When I inquired about the status of the card 3 months later,  they could not find my account information, then I was told I was not entitled to receive one.  Verizon agent would not transfer me to someone else to speak with.
